Black Widow

The kiss of the widow is deadly indeed
Her poison is sweetly perfumed
It may her taste, or the Black Widow’s lace
That keeps you so simply amused.

Now why is it trouble to escape her spell
With signals so clearly displayed
The web that she weaves or the red marks she leaves
Or the cross on her back, crimson stained.

Once she is near you it may be too late
If you have not met her before
Her kiss makes you high, at least for a time
Then leaves you yearning for more.

Now listen friend, if life you hold dear
For others misfortune has staid
A spider! A spider! If she sits down beside ya
Just get up and run far away.
